Nashville Trip 2019

From the moment I arrived in Nashville I could feel the wonderful creative atmousphere, everywhere, there are singers, songwriters, guitarists, there is so much love and respect for music,  I immediately felt so at home and couldn't wait for my first gig!

It was also the time for the Chet Atkins appreciation convention, at the Sheraton music city Hotel. I met up with some of the worlds finest guitarists and saw Tommy Emmanuel again for the first time in some years, we chatted about the gigs and festivals where we first met and talked lots about the incredible Big Jim Sullivan who I worked with for many years, working with Jim was an ongoing masterclass! Tommy is such a star player with an incredible technique, it was great and an inspiration to see him again !

Now it was time for my first gig at the well known venue in downtown Nashville, The 'Belcourt Taps.'

Some great musician friends Jim Diamond and Beth Deminski-Boyington came along with family and friends and contributed to an amazing atmousphere.  I'm very grateful to friends of mine in the music industry, particular thanks to David Mindel and Willie Fyffe who put me in touch with some great contacts in Nashville who also came along to some of the gigs.

The response was so strong it was such a pleasure playing to the amazing audiences, most of whom hadn't heard me play. My song "The Traveller" immediately became a firm favourite in this beautiful city. This is now being re recorded with my amazing new band "MCKENZIE"  (details on Band page), for release in the near future. All because of the warmth and appreciation of this wonderful centre for real music!

Thank you Nashville.......I'll be back!
